COHASSET - A 19-year-old man from Cohasset was arrested early today and charged with stealing a pickup truck.
The truck’s owner called 911 at 2:45 a.m. reporting that someone had tried to steal his 2007 Ford pickup truck from his driveway at Beechwood Street and Bound Brook Lane.
The truck crashed into a Volvo that was also parked in the driveway, and the thief ran into nearby woods when confronted by the truck’s 45-year-old owner, police Lt. William Quigley said.
Hingham officer James Foss and his dog Axel tracked the man into a marsh and arrested Enrico Teruzzi, of 21 Atlantic Ave., after a brief struggle, Quigley said.
Teruzzi was taken to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth where he was treated for dog bites and scratches. He was scheduled to be arraigned today in Quincy District Court on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, vandalism, resisting arrest and being disorderly.
Quigley said the pickup truck’s keys had been left in the glove compartment.
Cohasset Police Chief Mark DeLuca said the arrest “is a great example of police departments working together to take a person with complete disregard for others and their property off the street.”
